Adults 18–64 who can work and are not living with a child under 14 must meet a 20-hour/week work requirement or community service hours. Failure to comply may result in loss of SNAP as early as June 2026. Many exemptions apply — contact DSS at (607) 337-1500.

🏥 Medicaid in Chenango County

⚡ Utility Help in Chenango County

Chenango County residents may qualify for HEAP heating assistance. Starting with the 2025–2026 program year, the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging is no longer processing HEAP applications for those over 60 — all HEAP applications are now accepted at Chenango County DSS directly at 5 Court Street. If DSS is closed and you have an urgent energy emergency, call the Chenango County Sheriff at (607) 334-2000.
